San Francisco-based band The Lucky Losers, led by veteran artists Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz, return after winning five Independent Blues Awards in 2021. STANDIN’ PAT, with 11 original tracks, sits like a needle on the groove of something uniquely American. Their signature formula is a mixture of blues, retro soul, and Americana. Lemons’ voice is both gritty and angelic. Berkowitz’s big harp sound is ever-present on this album as he leads the charge and punctuates every line. Their vocal blend is made in harmony heaven and long-time producer Kid Andersen uses it to great effect.
